About This Spot

Nestled in the heart of Norwalk’s bustling Water Street district, Uncle Seven offers a warm and inviting refuge where the hum of conversation blends effortlessly with the gentle clink of chopsticks and the aroma of simmering spices. This Chinese restaurant strikes a balance between approachable neighborhood comfort and the subtle excitement of a kitchen crafting dishes with thoughtful care. Here, the pace slows just enough to sit back and savor both flavors and moments.

Stepping inside, you’re met with a cozy atmosphere where soft, ambient lighting and well-spaced tables create a welcoming environment that feels just right for a casual lunch or an unhurried dinner with family and friends. The mood hints at a certain relaxed attentiveness—where the food and company take center stage without unnecessary fuss.

Uncle Seven’s menu is a quiet celebration of Chinese flavors, gently adapted for local tastes while honoring the richness of each ingredient. Whether it’s the delicate snap of crystal shrimp dumplings, the subtle heat of a short rib spicy noodle, or the soothing warmth of wonton soup, each bite invites reflection and appreciation. There’s a thoughtful interplay between dishes that feel familiar—like fried rice and garlic black bean preparations—and those that bring a splash of adventurous fusion, such as a Thai-inspired coconut curry mixing seamlessly with attention to authentic textures and spice profiles.

The culinary choices here reveal a commitment to quality ingredients, favoring wild-caught seafood and Angus beef, which lends a fresh, genuine touch to classic preparations. It’s easy to imagine the quiet satisfaction shared around a table, where children eagerly tuck into comforting dumplings, and adults pause with a lychee martini or mango shrimp to enjoy the subtle tapestry of tastes unfolding on their plates.

What stands out most at Uncle Seven is its ability to be both a reliable spot for a favorite Chinese meal and a place where discoveries are made—whether in the unexpected twists on classics or the gentle layering of spice and texture. The experience tiptoes between authenticity and accommodation, bridging familiarity with heartfelt culinary exploration, all in a setting that encourages you to take your time and enjoy the little moments.

I don’t review bad restaurants, good and excellent food need to be share so no negativity. Bad reviews words can destroy lively hood of a business. Uncle Seven deserve my review as they really have good tasty food and good qualities Chinese dishes. Why they are good quality? Their menu offer Gulf Shrimp ( and Angus Beef) which is wild caught not farm breed. Farm breed shrimp or fishes are bad for you because the farmer use a lots of antibiotics in their feeding to keep the fishes strong to avoid sickness and diseases. I had been to Uncle Seven for many months and finally write this review. Their lunch menu dishes make me coming back again and again. KG is our favorite server he really deserve my praises. Today in hospitality is very rare to acknowledge his service by offering before your ask attitude. Keep up the good work, KG….! Their salad are to die for as my wife love the Salmon chopped salad. Lunch price $14 for 5 piece of Gulf Shrimp is a steal…!! Oh, their dumplings are all house prepared, so delicious…!

My second time here after many months. Thank you social media for the feed. Sure have been trying to get back as I’m 40mins away, being that there’s no traffic, but worth the drive to me. The food is excellent, and I love the atmosphere of this restaurant too. The children and I sat and enjoyed our meals, while I ordered one for the road. Garlic Black bean and Wok Ginger glaze togo. Veggie fried rice [minus] them carrots. Gotta ask for that glaze to go over the rice and dip the shrimp in. I’ll be back soon.

Tried this restaurant for lunch today with my Chinese friend. We enjoyed the food very much. I ordered Kung Pao chicken lunch box and my friend had Sichuan Pepper Sauce with beef. We added fried dumplings to share at the end. The skin of the dumplings is a little thick, which is pretty common in the US but they were perfectly fried. The meal was very tasty. I’m originally from Sichuan and liked their food a lot. They are definitely not the Americanized Chinese food style and kept the original Chinese taste. The service was great and the waiter knew that we preferred hot water instead of iced-water and asked to confirm. The environment was very pleasant. I loved how they decorated the place with traditional elegant Chinese style, especially the porcelain cups for hot lemon water. A good place to visit if you want to enjoy good Chinese food in a pleasant environment.

Decent spot for Cantonese inspired dishes. Is it as good & authentic as something you might find in Flushing, Queens? Almost!! We go back a lot for their har gow, char siu, and peking duck. Definitely hits the spot and does well to subdue our cravings. Service could be better though... the servers sometimes have to be flagged down to remind them to bring extras we've asked for or for e.g. when we ask for water/tea they bring literally one glass for the person who asked rather than for an entire table. Restaurant is beautiful and located in a mall. Food is a little pricey but it's the best in the area.

Taste like authentic Chinese food with hint of fusion. Super like for food quality. The ambiance is comfy with soothing music and warm lights. Must try - Sichuan style dumplings. You can customize the dumplings if you want. Pot dishes are something to try out which was delicious. Overall very good experience. Will definitely try again.

Ordered a clay pot and a crispy whole sea bass, 100/100 they are so delicious! With a just right level of sweet + sour + soy sauce flavor , and the fish itself is juicy and tender, with only a few large fish bones. My favorite fish ever!
